Youth Action Low Income Housing Program

YAYB owns and manages 124 units of permanent, low income rental housing in East Harlem. These units are available to low income and formerly homeless individuals and families. These are buildings that have been renovated and rehabilitated by students in the Youth Action YouthBuild program over the past 40 years.

Currently, all units are full and there is a wait list. You can inquire about available housing opportunities by either visiting the YAYB property management office at 2315 Second Ave in East Harlem or calling the office at 212-427-5361, weekdays  between 9 am and 4 pm.

Thank you to our special supporter  The Simeon Golar Family:

We are deeply grateful to the Golar Foundation for a generous gift made at our 45th anniversary to help preserve Youth Action’s low-income Housing.  This grant was made by Charlotte Golar Richie and Katherine Golar Morris in honor of their father, Judge Simeon Golar, who served as the head of the NYC Housing Authority under Mayor Lindsay in the 1970’s and rose to become a NYS Supreme Court Judge. He was a tireless leader and champion of expanding low-income housing throughout NYC. He was also the first head of NYCHA who had lived in public housing himself.
